22nd March 2020
Until the "new normality" of education settles down a little, secondary schools and colleges across the country will be open and running activities for the small number of children who will still need to attend. It might be difficult to deliver "subject lessons" in this time, so here are a few activities from the tutor2u Economics vault that can be used with secondary age children and need no prior knowledge.
The first activity is called Special Cars, and just needs some basic art and craft equipment to get started. This activity helps students to explore the differences between working individually and working together. It should take around 30 to 45 minutes.
You can download the resource here: Special Cars
The second activity for the day helps students to explore how and why countries choose to trade with each other, and again, simply needs basic classroom equipment and possibly some monopoly money (from the board game).

The final activity in this blog post is called the Tennis Ball Game - you don't actually need tennis balls for this activity, scrunched up pieces of paper will work just fine! This activity helps students to find out about some of the issues that businesses face when they expand, and how they could tackle the problem.
