Left-wing rising in the region of Asturias in October 1934. This was part of a broader 'October Revolution' against Alejandro Leroux's right-wing government following the appointment of CEDA ministers to the cabinet. Workers established control of Asturias and declared a workers' republic, but the revolution was soon ended as the government sent in the Spanish Army led by Francisco Franco and used the Spanish Navy to brutally crush the revolt.
