Cardiovascular disease (CVD)
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the name given to a group of disorders affecting the heart and blood vessels. CVD usually occurs due to a build-up (over time) of fat around the arteries that lead to clotting of the blood. One example of CVD is coronary heart disease. This occurs when the flow of oxygen-enriched blood to the heart is blocked.
