William Easterly

William Easterly is an American economist and author who is known for his work on development economics and the role of foreign aid in promoting economic growth in developing countries.

Easterly is known for his skepticism about the effectiveness of overseas aid in promoting economic development, and has argued that economic growth is more likely to be driven by individual entrepreneurship and the development of institutions that support markets and property rights.

His book "The White Man's Burden: Why the West's Efforts to Aid the Rest Have Done So Much Ill and So Little Good" has been widely influential in development economics.
