Islamophobia is a term given to the fear (or hatred) of Muslims and the Islamic way of life. Islamophobia has become prevalent in recent years and has been attributed to the negative reporting of the activities of Muslims by the media, following the events of 9/11 in the USA and 7/7 in the UK. Islamophobia generates racial abuse and hatred against those who are perceived to be from a nation with large populations of Muslims, or Muslim communities in the UK
