Leadership & Management | All Change at the Top for Netflix
20th January 2023
It's time for the founder to step aside at Netflix and allow new management to tackle some tricky strategic challenges!
The BBC reports here that Reed Hastings, the co-founder and co-CEO of Netflix is stepping down from his role as co-CEO. However, Hastings will remain with Netflix, as executive chairman.
Netflix will now be run by Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, both already in senior management positions.
Sarandos and Peters have a lot to tackle.
The main challenges facing Netflix seem to include:
- Managing high levels of costs, particularly new programming
- Password sharing amongst users, which damages subscription revenues
- Increased competition from rivals such as Amazon, HBO, Apple TV and Disney
Will Sarandos and Peters succeed?
