Leading Nazis during Hitler's Rise to Power

In the early years of the Nazi Party, there were four key people underneath Hitler who replaced Drexler as leader in July 1921. Hitler recruited people who would complement his skills and develop the party further.

Rudolf Hess

Hess was an academic who quickly became Hitler’s deputy in the party. Hess himself was a wealthy individual and contributed to the financial success of the party.

Hermann Goering

Goering was a veteran of the German Air Force during the First World War, he would go on to lead the Luftwaffe during the Nazi Dictatorship.

Julius Streicher

Streicher was a publisher who helped found the second Nazi paper called the Stomer. This helped spread the Nazi message further to those around Munich, Bavaria and Germany.

Ernst Rohm

Rohm was a key individual in the establishment of the party as he was a former army officer who was in charge of the SA (Nazi private army).
