Sir Francis Wolsingham
Sir Francis Wolsingham was Secretary of State to Elizabeth I from 1573. He is widely regarded as having being Elizabeth's "spymaster" and played a crucial role running the intelligence activities that identified and thwarted a series of plots against Elizabeth, including the Ridolfi Plot (1571), the Throckmorton Plot (1583) and the Babington Plot (1586).
